VAT registration in Austria for companies

Austria is subject to EU VAT legislation and is part of the European Union’s single market. VAT directives are issued by the EU and set out the rules for this system, and they have priority over local laws.

Austria introduced VAT, otherwise the UST Mwst in 1973. It is administered by Bundesministerium fur Finanzen (Austrian Ministry of Finance).
